Anti-bribery policy
Cosgrove Leisure Parks UK Limited and the companies in our group do business honestly. We do not offer, pay, ask for or accept bribes, in any form, to anyone. This policy applies to our directors, staff, seasonal workers, agents, contractors and anyone else acting for us.
The law
Under the Bribery Act 2010 it is a criminal offence to:
- offer, promise or give a bribe;
- ask for, agree to receive or accept a bribe;
- bribe a foreign public official;
- for a company, fail to prevent bribery by people acting for it.
A bribe is anything of value, such as money, gifts, hospitality, favours or a job offer, given to get someone to act improperly or to win or keep business. Breaking the law can lead to unlimited fines and up to 10 years in prison.
What this means in practice
- No bribes. Never offer or accept anything to influence a decision, for example over a sale, a pitch, a planning matter, a licence or the choice of a supplier.
- No “facilitation payments”. These are small unofficial payments to speed up a routine service. They are bribes and are not allowed.
- Gifts and hospitality. Modest, occasional gifts and hospitality, such as a box of chocolates or a working lunch, are fine if they are open and not meant to influence anyone. Anything worth more than £50, or anything offered while a deal or contract is being decided, must be checked with a director first and written in our gifts register.
- Commission and introductions. Any commission or introduction fee must be agreed in writing, recorded in our accounts and, where the law requires, disclosed to the customer. As a credit broker, we tell customers that we may receive commission from the lender.
- Donations. We do not make political donations. Charitable donations must be approved by a director and must never be linked to winning business.
- Suppliers and agents. We choose suppliers on price, quality and reliability. We expect the people we work with to follow this policy too.
Records
We keep accurate accounts and records of all payments, gifts, hospitality and commissions, so that we can show they were proper.
Raising a concern
If you are offered a bribe, are asked to make one, or suspect bribery, tell a director as soon as you can. If you are not comfortable doing that, you can write to the directors at Sheerness Holiday Park, Halfway Road, Minster On Sea, Sheerness, Kent ME12 3AA. Anyone who raises a genuine concern in good faith will be supported and will not be treated badly for it, even if they turn out to be mistaken.
Breaking this policy
Staff who break this policy may face disciplinary action, which could lead to dismissal. We will end our relationship with any supplier, agent or contractor who breaks it, and we will report criminal matters to the police.
Review
The directors are responsible for this policy and review it every year. See also our modern slavery statement.
Come and walk round the park
A viewing is the best way to judge a home: the light, the plot, the walk to the shop. Pick a day and we will show you round.
