Ashcroft Coast Holiday Park looks out over the point where the Thames meets the sea, with green fields on one side and an unspoilt stretch of Sheppey coast on the other.

There is a lot to do without leaving the park: an indoor pool with a spa bath and steam room, an outdoor pool for sunny days, the Waterside Tavern for food and drinks, a club house and a full-time entertainment team.

Dogs on beaches

Swale Borough Council: from 1 May to 30 September dogs are not allowed on the main beaches at Sheerness (Jacobs Bank to the steps by the swimming pool), Minster Leas (the lifeguard station to the ramp opposite the Little Oyster Cafe) and Leysdown (Stokes Amusements to the steps opposite the small roundabout), and must be on a lead on the promenades there. Other Sheppey beaches welcome dogs all year.

A little history

Eastchurch calls itself the home of British aviation. In 1909 Frank McClean turned Stonepits Farm into a flying ground for members of the Aero Club, and the Short brothers tested their early aircraft here. A memorial opposite the church, unveiled in 1955, remembers those pioneers. Part of the old airfield is now home to three prisons.
